Heart Cake

My parents anniversary is 3 days from valentine's day so we have always been big celebrators of the holiday. this year my Grandma Jane was visiting around the time and it also happened to be my uncle's birthday. We decided to celebrate with a dinner at our house. I was in charge of dessert, of course! Because february is such a "lovey dovey" month I went with a "lovey dovey" dessert.

Vanilla cake with Chocolate Frosting

A layer of fresh strawberries with sugar in the middle

And for decoration: fresh strawberries and a powdered sugar heart
I thought it came out quite well :)

St. Patrick's Day

While taking one of my wilton cake decorating classes iI was inspired by all the green around St. Patrick's day. This was just a plain yellow cake with a (white) vanilla buttercream, but the green frosting is actually a lemon flavor. I filled the the middle of the cake with the green lemon and then decorated. Simple and clean; yet expressive.

Green filling *the trick it to do a ring of the outer frosting first

The finished product - rosettes and stars

Dad's Birthday cake

For my dad's birthday I wanted to create something really delicious. My dad is Irish and I had found this recipe for Irish Car-Bomb cupcakes that I had been wanting to try for a while. He also does not get to indulge on sweets as often as he used to because of health reasons. Why not give him a special treat for his birthday?!  So I took the recipe and turned it into a cake this is what came out: Chocolate-Guinness cake, Chocolate-Jameson Ganache filling and Bailey's Buttercream Frosting. Delicious!

From the top
There was originally a big candle in the middle (note random spot in the middle)

From the Side
I had run out of cake boards, which is why it is not nice and clean on the sides

yummmmm I want another piece
just imagine whipped cream with chocolate drizzle on each piece!
